A downloadable Movement Game

Aloft is a  companion dice game to the Arcane Exercise series that expounds upon the idea: how many different ways can you lift something above your head?

It's a movement game based on the principles presented in the Arcane Exercise Core Rulebook, but you don't have to read Arcane Exercise or any of its expansions to play the game.

It utilizes 4d6 (four 6-sided die)--if you don't have those you can roll them digitally here: roll 4d6. Each die represents a condition that is applied to the central action of the game: lift an object (preferably something a bit heavy) from the ground to above your head.

The goal is to deconstruct exercise and instead use various conditions to create a movement task which can be solved in any way as interpreted by the mover. It is a form of movement exploration and physical problem solving -- but it can also just be a fun way to lift weights.

What is Arcane Exercise?

Arcane Exercise is a system and tool agnostic lens that uses game design theory to simplify the process of understanding exercise-based movement. It uses common TTRPG vernacular, game mechanics, and an old school fantasy aesthetic.

Expansions and Supplements

The Arcane Exercise series is intended to be a simple, accessible way to interact with exercise and movement. I hope to release future expansions on the idea with drills, games, tool-specific iterations, and more. It is also intended to be a collaborative project, so different interpretations of the idea are welcome.
